Older Version Better November 11, 2008 I purchased this product for the Bridge game and haven't really used it that much so far; however, what I have played, I like the older version better.
Excellent learning tool, and for maintianing skill level January 18, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is an excellent backgammon tutor. The graphics are not that exciting but they're easy to see and understand. While I have won many games using this software, I have never found it easy to win and when my game improves, the software itself goes up a level in difficulty. Strictly speaking, backgammon is not a game of luck but a game of strategy. It's the intelligent use of poor dice rolls that seperates the good player from the great player. Any experienced player can defeat a beginner no matter how lucky the beginner's rolls are. This factor is largely employed in this software making it an excellent way to keep your game up when not around experienced players. For the beginner who wants to become good at backgammon, I cannot recommend this software highly enough. With serious, persistant effort one can become a fine player in record time using this software. It trains your mind without your even seeing it work. You just keep playing, you just get better. I have not yet explored the Bridge side because I don't know people who play, but when I encounter such, I expect this software to be doubley useful.
Great games! February 11, 2005 28 out of 28 found this review helpful
I love these games. The bridge game can be played against the computer or you can hook up to the internet to play w/your friends. The computer really knows how to bid, and you can select which bidding conventions and preferences you want. Also, if you don't know why a bid was made, you can click on that bid and the computer will interpret it for you. You can select to play open hands or choose the cards for each hand so you can set up certain hands and study them. It's great! The backgammon is fun too, but I can beat it pretty easily, so maybe it's not that challenging for advanced players.
