Product Description StarCraft: Brood War continues the award winning saga of galactic warfare as the Zerg, Protoss and Terrans struggle for their continued survival. With the shattered Zerg hive torn apart by fierce in-fighting, the Protoss seek to reunite with their Dark Templar brethren and begin the rebuilding of their homeworld, Aiur. The battle for galactic domination rages on with new units, new campaigns, and more explosive strategic combat.
Amazon.com Review Fans who mastered the original StarCraft's three races and survived its well-crafted story were quickly clamoring for more. A worthy sequel, Brood War delivers further plot twists and bigger battles. In keeping with StarCraft's groundbreaking design, this expansion pack--which requires the original game--presents you with three sides of a galactic conflict. Scheming Humans, insidious Zerg, and proud Protoss collide again, with stunning new cinematics setting the stage. Old friends and foes and ominous new arrivals give the story a breakneck pace, while a handful of additions to each race's arsenal makes for tense battles. Some missions require a bit of finesse, breaking the resource-gathering routine while making good use of the new units. Humans now have Valkyrie missile frigates, as well as Medics that automatically try to heal your grunts. New for the Zerg air force is the acid-spewing Devourer; the new Lurker unit provides heavy-duty (under)ground support. Along with the Corsair fighter, the Protoss re-enter the fray with Dark Templar, which can merge to form the devastating Dark Archon. Unfortunately, units old and new still suffer from some weak pathfinding. Brood War also features stellar new environments and ambient art, as well as more than 100 additional multiplayer maps. Real-time strategy games don't get any more epic or any more satisfying. --Jack Gardiner Pros: - New units open up more strategic possibilities
- More of StarCraft's great storytelling
- Missions are challenging and varied
Cons: - Unit pathfinding is still a little clumsy and requires careful micromanagement
Amazon.com Product Description This add-on for Starcraft expands your playing world with new story lines, weapons, worlds, and music. The game begins as Terran Emperor Mengsk I, having achieved his goal of total power over the human colonies, must now turn his attention to both the rising power of the woman he betrayed--Kerrigan, the infamous Zerg Queen of Blades--and a conspiracy deep within his own ranks. You must have a complete version of Starcraft for this product to function.

be protoss June 10, 2005 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
this game is sweet because you can choose from three different story modes, terran, zerg and protoss. and also what is cool about this game is that it is an expansion pack. i dont know/get haow to play mutiplayer on this game but everyone else pry does. you can also make your own place. if only they made one of these for GC,PS2,or XBOX. if you know how to play warcraft you know how to play this game. all the people are different in this game and which fate will you choose?
Great expansion pack September 10, 2004 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Brood war brings new units, missions, storyline and lots more. If you enjoyed playing Starcraft, then you will enjoy Brood War. In fact, I think anyone that owns Starcraft should also own this expansion pack.
The perfect expansion to the perfect game July 23, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Starcraft is by far the best strategy game created in Earth. Good graphics that can easily run in low-equipped PCs, an awesome sound and interface, Starcraft can proportionate hours and hours of diversion, mainly if you play in the battle.net. The expansion added many interesting things like new types of terrain and new units, and sure it's worth the price, even because the game is very cheap. The game is probally the best game to play via net or lan, and only Counter Strike can compete against Starcraft in the subject multiplayer interface (acess and entertaiment). An awesome map editor (the best of any game ever created) does not let that you stop playing only because you won all the entire campaign and sure, you can easily obtain new maps by playing in new maps (that you don't have, of course), and sure, the map is all yours to play. The only thing that I didn't liked very much was the addiction of the Dark Archon to the Protoss and one of his powers, Mind Control, that just let you have control over whatever unit in the map you want, and that is not fair in NET games, because one can take a SCV or drone of yours and build and have control over a second (or even over the three races) race, and that is not fair, I have the impression that the Protoss are "superior" (but that is because I am a Zerg player, although I play very well with all three races). But this is the only annoying problem. If you have Starcraft, the expansion is worth the price. And if you don't have both, you don't know then what you are missing...
The Greatest Game of All Time April 25, 2004 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Starcraft: Brood War is hands-down the greatest Real-Time-Strategy game of ALL TIME. It's considered a SPORT in korea, getting live broadcasts on tv stations daily. I have played this game for 5 years, and I'm still as interested in it now as I was 5 years ago. For a game that has been out since 1998, there are still more people playing this game than most new titles today. In my opinion, Starcraft: Brood War ranks as #1 game of all time.
