4 out of 5 stars A great stoy and a fun game   October 8, 2008

I downloaded Cate West on [...] and thought it was a lot of fun. I'm a fan of these hidden object games, so maybe a little biased. Cate West is a unique character - a psychic detective who helps detectives solve cases. As another reviewer said, the game is dark, but it totally suits the game. There's a great story, great characters and challenging puzzles. I would definitely recommend you check it out.

1 out of 5 stars Dark, Dirty & Depressing   September 13, 2008

Games should be fun and make you feel good.

I love to play the hidden objects video games. I owned and enjoy playing about 10 of them. When I ordered this game, I was hoping that it would be a entertaining game which I would enjoy playing over and over. Unfortunately, it is far from that.

Every day for the past week, I have spent some time playing this newest game on my computer. Instead of wanting to play it and enjoying the experience, I find myself almost reluctant to turn it on and always come away feeling depressed. I may start out the game in a good mood, but I always exit this game feel miserable.

Why? Because THIS IS A DEPRESSING GAME! Every setting is worse than the last, filled with dark, almost grimy scenes in the most frightening places...like dirty tunnels, abandoned buildings, filthy basements, neglected homes and other somber or horrible settings. There is not one pleasant place in this game. There is not one moment of joy shown anywhere in this DARK, DIRTY & DEPRESSING GAME! Even flowers and children's toys look sad and lost in these settings.

This is the first hidden object game that I don't enjoy playing or even wish to finish playing. This will be the first hidden object game that I will be removing from my computer. That is happening today, and I will avoid any future games by this team of artists and game creators in the future. These artists must all need emotional counseling or a real holiday...desperately. If this is their idea of fun, they need to look at their lives and consider their mental state. Only very depressed people would want to find themselves 'trapped' in these disturbingly grim settings.

I most certainly would not recommend this game to anyone, especially children.

This game I thought was great.I have finished it,Not cuz it was easybut because Igot it a while back on Shockwave .com
1)You go about findingitems on a list that are hidden in a room, like a wrench, apple, carrot, crayon etc.
2)Next you have 2 pictures that look the same but have 2 differences, you must click your mouse on the differences.
3)You next have 2 scfreens and below a few objects are in a line below,You must remember where those items were and pick them up and place them back where you remember they were.
4)Next Cate Will touch the objects and each one will tell her about the suspect.
5)You then get mugshots and a lil knowledge about the suspects ,such as they like birdwatching,or where they worked.
6)Then you must guess at which person you want to arrest and make the arrest.
This goes on for many levels, and is very fun especially for 35 yr old or so women.I finished the game in about a week, but was so addicted I played from 11:00 at night till 7:00 in the morning.
This is one of the best PC games I have played and I have played alot!If you enjoy PC Games then buy it ,you won't be sorry I.t's worth $20
