5 out of 5 stars TRY IT   November 7, 2008
This is a fantastic piece of software made just for guitarists. You do NOT need to know music notation. If you can find the Guitar Pro tab for a song and load it into Guitar Pro, it will make learning and practicing the song MUCH easier! It is not perfect software, however. The interface is not as polished or slick, as say Sibelius or Finale Allegro or Finale G7 (I've tried them), but does FAR more then they can for the guitar player (and at a lower price). For example, you can repeat sections of a song over and over at different speeds until you finally learn the part. It can even speed up sections incrementally to help you learn a part. You can see the tab and the correct rhythm in standard notation above. TRY IT. There's probably a demo!

1 out of 5 stars Birthday gift gone bad!   October 26, 2008
I purchased this item as a birthday gift for my son. When the gift was opened, to our surprise there was NO music CD in the box. Basically, my son received an empty box for his birthday. I contacted Amazon.com and expressed my dissatisfaction. I will not buy from this company again, and certainly will not recommend the company to any friends!

5 out of 5 stars It's a beauty   October 14, 2008
I love it. When you get the right Tab arrangement for a tune you are working on, it's just great.

3 out of 5 stars a must have for guitar enthusiasts but far from perfect   September 1, 2008
I have had both the Windows version and the Mac version of this program and have found a few bugs in both: the Windows version has a more logical user interface but crashed OFTEN (1/4 of the time) ; the Mac version seems to be more stable (probably more a testament to the OS than anything) but has its bugs too - e.g., digital tuner is flaky (can only get the 'needle' to show up 1/2 the time).

I sent an email to eMedia support 3 weeks ago about the bug, still no word.
