5 out of 5 stars Works for an accountant   August 9, 2008

This keypad layout is the same as the keypad on desktop. Good touch and resistance. It is larger than many of the other numeric keypads but that is what makes it stable. I have only used it with XP and Windows 2000.

5 out of 5 stars Works great even on my Mac. What??? That's right!   March 16, 2008

I was looking for a numeric keypad for my laptop that looked and felt like my desktop keyboard. After much research, I decided on this one. The keys are identical to my Dell Dimension desktop and I like the place at the bottom to rest the palm of my hand. I plugged this in to my Dell Inspiron laptop and it worked flawlessly after a few seconds. The buttons push with the same feel as my Dell desktop, which I enjoy. Smoothly and easily.
Next, I tried it on my Apple laptop. It was not recognized by Apple's installer program but after the installer quit, the keypad worked perfectly on my Mac as well. This is an IBM/Lenovo product so, there is no documentation or support for this but it works. I am using it on a PowerBook G4 1.67 GHz running Tiger 10.4.11. As a matter of fact, I am typing in this review on my PowerBook and using the keypad for all of the numbers in my review. This is an added bonus for Mac users. The price is right too.
Buy this one if you want a basic functioning keypad at a great price and not a lot of extra fluff.

3 out of 5 stars Strange Things Are Happening   February 13, 2008

The first thing that hit me was that the logo on the front said "Lenovo" and not "IBM" as in the picture on the Amazon site. I subsequently found out that Lenovo is an IBM brand. The next thing was when I went to register the keypad, they asked for part numbers and serial numbers that weren't really apparent on the product. Even their help site wasn't very useful. But given all that, it seems to work just fine.

However, soon the monitor on my laptop would change resolution when booting up from hibernation, restart, standby, or just turning it on. I restored my computer to prior to the installation of the keypad and everything seemed OK, so I re-installed the keypad. Back came the resolution changes.

I called support at IBM, but they didn't have any record that I owned the keypad, hence no warranty; therefore no help. I ended up scanning the invoice and box label that came with the keypad and sending it to them, and they finally would accept that my warranty should begin when the keypad was produced, six months before I bought it. I found this extremely disappointing. They then suggested that I contact my computer (Dell) company for help with the problem. I could see the old "Ping Pong" trick coming on. So, I decided to give up and live with the occasional monitor-resolution changes and just use it as it is since I can't pick a specific sequence of events that causes the monitor change.

I can say that it sure beats the top row numbers on the computer keyboard.

I can't say I recommend this product, but I can't say that I don't.

This keypad was perfect. It has large keys for larger hands. Simple and perfect for my purpose. I have already recommended it to a co-worker- she loved it too.

5 out of 5 stars Great 10 key   August 7, 2007

I've had several keypads, each one lacking in one respect or another. This is the best I've found...good size keys, good spacing between keys, positive feel. Would recommend.
