Would like to tell you how good the product is however we still have not received what we ordered. We did receive an email from the seller telling us the pkg was returned and that he was mailing it again last Monday. We emailed him on Thursday to tell him we still did not have the software.
Longest Last Operating System May 9, 2010 Man Le I still want to use this Operating System, because of OpenGL support for 3D application and games, starting with Windows 2000 or NT, microsoft has modified it's driver which make the OpenGL low grammer, I think microsoft is trying to eliminate some free programming opensource for everyone, I like to use this operating system if someone continue to use it for such game as Quake 3 1.16 freeze rail and AMD software cool program runs fine, I hope someone makes Operating System from this windows 98 base to add features without making programmers reprogram their software to support the OS, let me know if u can make windows 98 look modern and cool with new win98 os win98@LeMinhMan.com
The Improved Version April 1, 2010 Acute Observer (Jersey Shore USA) Windows 98 First Edition
The "Getting Started" manual has a `Contents' for its five chapters, a `Glossary', and an `Index' of ten pages. `Appendix A' explains how to use a mouse. `Appendix B' has "Internet Basics". `Appendix C' is "Accessibility for People with Disabilities", page 113 lists the problems. `General Windows Keys' are on pages 120 to 123. The `Preface' tells how to use this manual (p.vii). Chapter 1 teaches about Windows 98 in its 23 pages. Chapter 2 is titled "Installing Windows 98". A new installation that uses FAT32 requires less disk space (p.26). Or you could upgrade from Windows 95 or Windows 3.1. Chapter 3 explains "Using Your Desktop". It is similar to Windows 95 with enhancements (the USB ports used by most printers).
Chapter 4 tells how to customize your desktop, the display on your monitor. The `Active Desktop' can display Web pages (p.63) or Web TV on your computer (p.71). You can use multiple monitors (p.75). Chapter 5 has many technical topics "Advanced Issues". The FAT32 file system is more efficient in using disk space (p.85), supports larger hard drives, and is more reliable. There are many topics here, reading them can inform you about options available for a computer used by other people. Windows 98 can be used on a 486 or equivalent (like a 586 or 686). Later versions of Windows require Pentiums with faster CPU speed. This system does not support USB Mass Storage devices (memory sticks or other USB devices).
There are Unofficial software drivers on the Internet that will update your system to Windows 98 SE. The address is: [...]. Download this 35 Mb file to your disk and run it to update your system to the Second Edition. Next download the software driver file (NUSB320-Eng-98FE.exe) to support USB Mass Storage devices. Go to Device Manager and remove ALL drivers for USB flash drives or any USB 2.0 controllers (many have an uninstall option) . Remove ALL unknown devices from Device Manager. Run the downloaded file NUSB320-Eng-98FE.exe and follow the instructions, rebooting after installation. When the computer boots up again, it may detect new USB 2.0 controllers, in which case you may need to reboot again.
Not what advertised. April 3, 2009 Bear 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
The CD I received was a restore CD for Windows SE, that came with a computer. It can only be used on the computer it came with. She said to return it and she would send a refund for the full amount. I returned the CD but I have not received the refund.
dissapointing, but maybe you'll get better results September 25, 2008 A. Martin 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
well, its been aout a few weeks to a month since i got my order. speedy delivery. but when i try to instal the program it gets stuck on 4%.. i literaly left my laptop on for 7 hours stright, didnt touch it or anything, and it was so frustrating to see a 4%....even though it was a copy of the program, i wasnt too bothered by it, as long as it would of workd. but it didnt, and i am still stuck useing a 2005 gateway instead of my beautiful 2007 sony viao. all around disapointed with my purchase, but maybe someone else will get diffrent results. (lil tip, read the return policy throughly)
