no single player October 10, 2008 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a MMORPG. Even though reviews and product literature makes reference to a single player campaign in addition to MMORPG game play, in fact there is no independent single player mode. You must still create an account with the MMO outfit, use their internet servers any time you want to play, and accept a recurring charge against your credit card, in order to get started. Additionally there is no option for enjoying the free 30 day play you get with a new key. You must sign up, give a CC, play, and cancel when the 30 days are up in order to avoid a charge. How lame is that?
Included game time October 7, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Didn't see included game time in the product info anywhere, so I bought a game card as well. Turns out the game comes with 30 free days of play, which I suppose is industry standard these days. But I thought I would add this information.
Only problem is: The customer service October 5, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful

Buyer beware! October 1, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is less a review than a warning. First of all, buying this game in used condition is utterly pointless - unless you want to buy it as a coaster, because that's what you'll get. Once activated, it's useless. Welcome to the world of modern PC gaming!
One another note, trying to get this game patched is a matter of utter frustration. I've never experienced such a problem trying to patch a game. Disconnect after disconnect. The patching program is clearly unstable. Do a search for "Age of Conan patching problems" to read more stories.
I think this game had great promise, but failed to live up to it.
Most Immersive Combat and Adventure of any MMO September 20, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've played Age of Conan since beta. Five months after AoC's public debut I still find this game highly addictive. Although Age of Conan still needs more content (especially end game content), I've never played a game that's more immersive, intense and fun.
The system requirements for AoC are rather demanding, but if you can play AoC with its video settings at or near max, you're in for a wild ride.
Funcom, the developers of AoC, released a patch earlier this week (09/17/2008) that introduced the much needed PvP leveling and rules.
I've tried Warhammer Online, but after playing Age of Conan, there's no way I could play a game like WAR. AoC seems light years ahead of WAR in terms of its combat, environments, characters and immersion.
Age of Conan is both a work of art and feat of engineering. Thrilling game.
